Fairness of the Battle System
Ever heard the expression RHIP? Rank has its privileges.
Advanced members get more attacks because they are paying members.
The staff of the site gets more attacks and ability to use stronger weapons. It is a privilege given to them for helping you and this site.
We also, because we are staff get attacked by everyone and their brother because we are well known. Everyone wants to kill the site owners and staff.
We do not have time to play as often as you because the site requires us to work our rears off to keep it updated.
Like life, nothing is ever fair. You need to realize this. There will always be someone taking advantage of things or getting better perks because of some reason you cannot understand. You want to gain more attacks and better weapons, apply to be staff, work your rear off for the site and go up the ranks.
If you think the game is unfair because staff get stronger weapons than you, then you have only a few choices:
1. Live with it and understand the RHIP aspect of life.
2. Don't play the game because it is unfair and youre too stubborn to realize that life just isn't fair. This is our site and we will do things how we want, we are sorry if you cannot accept that. We play to win and if the site owners want to cheat every once in a while, they will. All of the other staff here earned the right to take a little advantage of our situations as a reward for all we do for you, if you deny us that then your selfish! We will however, try our best not to get too out of hand, and we will not tolerate the staff just totally abusing the system for their gain, so we will try to keep things as fair as possible as long as you understand the staff of this site does have the rights to occasionally get advantages not available to regular members. We could just shut the site down since we are so unfair and then it would be fair to everyone, is that what you want.
3. Work your rear off, get noticed, apply and get accepted on staff so you too can use the RHIP concept. Please note however, your chance of ever becoming an owner/admin of the site are about 1 billion in one, so you will never get to that level of privileges unless you are an adult and put in a hell of a lot of work and time on this site to earn it.
New Version of IBPro
Will we be getting it here?

Just curious - someone mentioned recently that there was a new version of the IBPro Battle System coming out fairly soon. Just wondering if we'll see that version here? Not sure what the big advantage is to the new system - but there's always cool new features.
If someone is interested in additional information, let me know and maybe I'll spend some time investigating...

I think instead of having all the accounts reset if/when the new version arrives, we should have the option of playing both, I know it costs like $80 or something to install it though...

It's out now. Go to the main in pro battle site and you can play or download it. Runehq just has to update their version to the new one now.

So, anyone from the mod group wish to comment on this? Sounds like we can get the update now, but someone would have to take the ball and run with it to get the board updated.

Whenever we upgrade to IPB3, we'll take a more detailed look into it, but no promises on anything. There is also no set time for the IPB3 upgrade either.

As Lilroo said, there are no dates for the upgrade to IPB3, but we are in the process of looking into it. We have a lot of mods that are unique to us, so we have to see about updating them as well, so just switching is not a simple thing, but we do want you to know we are working on it.
I do hope that all of you realize that IF we update to the new forum battle, we may need to reset everyone back to beginner level

- I dont know yet for sure, but just an early warning that it might be a possibility.

Yay!! That means I might be able to kick Alfawarlord's butt... For a bit at least.

Well, admins do have the option for IBPro to set someone's level, so if you decide to hop to IPB 3, and to IBPro battle, you could edit some users manually (like Nick and Msft)

Good to hear. And while I'd love to continue to be the highest level active player right now and believe somewhere in the back of my mind that if I worked at it hard enough I could catch Msft (in about another year or two

), I also realize that a reset will make the game more competitive and a bit more fun for those who are just starting out and want to give it a go.
So I'm open to a reset if that's what needs to happen. Maybe beforehand we can consider a bit of a celebration of what those in the top 3 or top 5 have accomplished to date, snapshot some things for posterity, and then we can all remember what had gone on before.

Not that!!! D:
I would like to try out the new version, but if we do change over, the only people to be edited should be the Admins, if they want to have that jump... Otherwise I won't be able to say I have beaten Alfa!

If we do update everyone should have a chance to get legitimate levels. Specially since no one is going to want to manually update every person to the previous levels.

I agree. I've racked my brain to consider some "fair" way to represent those who had played a good game in the previous version and can't think of something that truly would be fair to all. Here are some of the things I've considered:
- Asterisk by their name (too ugly)
- Special color (colors already used by "member/admin system" - probably would be too confusing)
- Monetary privileges (too unfair to others)
- Manually updating levels (too unfair to others)
- Some special weapons only accessible to prior players (too difficult to manage - might have to create a group called "prior players" and put everyone currently on the system in it and then maintain the group - ugly solution)
- Manually manipulating HP or Str for previous players (might be a possibility, if it didn't get out of hand - but it still involves some sort of mass change for the conversion. If it was done equally across the board, it might be OK)
Thinking more on the last one, I believe most level 1's start off at 30/30. Maybe prior players start off at 35/35 or 40/40? It's the only suggestion I can come up with that makes any sense and would give those prior players a slight head-start on the game.

I reckon if the first page of IBP players should be put in a new group, like Elders but they have no special advantages outside the new version of IBP. The only advantages should be higher leveled weapons.
The new group should be called something like "1st Pagers"
^.^ That's if it's all possible...

Eh, if this resets, I'm certainly not even going to be continuing, even as I don't play much since I've mostly quit. I think that the systems should be compared, we may not have any reasons to upgrade.
