November Forum Competition

Well, with October now long past, we welcome the even wackier month of November. From the strange weather to all of the crazy Americans eating turkey, stuffing, and who knows what else, November is always an odd month. Along with that, the month has some interesting words associated with it, including: autumn, gravy, and my favorite, cornucopia. Obviously somebody created all of those words for a reason, but why exactly did they choose to spell them in such ways? Well, I can't really tell you why they spelled those words the way they did, but they must've had some good reason (or maybe not).

With that, I bring you this month's forum competition. Much like the people who created those words so long ago, your job will also be to make up words to explain concepts from the past, present, or even the future. These words can be basically anything, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. Although I would encourage you to try and use somewhat formal spelling when creating a word, it is by no means a requirement. So it sounds easy, right? Unfortunately as always, there's a catch. Instead of just picking random letters to help create your word, you will have to scramble the letters of a word given to you by an ET member to form your new word.

So here's an example.

QUOTE

Step 1: I post the phrase "Grand Exchange".

Step 2: Contestants scramble "Grand Exchange" into the following responses and give them meanings.

Changganderex: An ancient dinosaur.
Rexdangecharg: A hostile foreign nation.
Changedangxer: A monster found in changing rooms.

Step 3: After a 24 hour waiting period, or whenever the next ET member posts, I pick the word/definition I like best. The creator of the chosen word is the day's winner.

And lastly are a few rules to keep the competition fair and interesting.

Rules
1. Words can't be ones that exist in any language (English, German, French... etc)
2. A contestant must use all of the letters of the word given to them.
3. A contestant can't create a phrase even if they were given one to begin with, it must be a single word.
4. All words must be submitted within 24 hours of the time the ET member posts, or whenever the next ET member posts.
5. No use of offensive language. Doing so may result in punishment.
6. All contestants may only submit one word per day, though they can change it before the next ET member posts.

So let's have some fun this month, maybe add a few new words to your vocabulary, and maybe if we're lucky, create a new word for Webster's Dictionary.
