Quotations take from RuneScape.com
QUOTE Maggie, a travelling witch, has come to southern Asgarnia for the holiday festivities, but she's in a bit of a spot. She needs an enchanted broom to finish her potion but her ox has a cold and can't be left alone. In Swept Away, you'll need to visit several nearby witches on Maggie's behalf – and solve a few puzzles along the way.
While you're in the neighbourhood, why not try out the Holiday Event: a bit of trick-or-treating in Draynor, Rimmington and Port Sarim. The towns are decked out in holiday décor and the villagers have treats to distribute to those wearing a suitable costume. If you're interested in some holiday garb, have a chat with Maggie: she's on the look-out for someone who can do a bit of trick-or-treating on her behalf. Swept Away can be started by talking to Maggie, who is located south of Falador and east of the Crafting Guild. The quest will be available to all players for two weeks; after this time, it will only be available to members. The Hallowe'en decorations and trick-or-treating will only be available during the same holiday period. Any treats remaining in your bank or inventory after this time will disappear after Hallowe'en. Mod Ingrid RuneScape Content Developer Summary Where to start the Hallowe'en Event or Swept Away: Speak to Maggie, south of Falador Requirements: None In other news... A large number of sound effects and changes to sound effects have been added, especially to capes and the skillcape emotes. Human animations have been extensively modified to stop players appearing to glide around. You should also notice less 'clipping' with items like capes and armour when performing various actions or using emotes. When you're dismissing a familiar, you can now right-click on the 'Dismiss' button. This will let you skip the confirmation screen, making it easier to dismiss the familiar during combat. Fairy rings now have a larger clickable area. Previously, it was quite small and potentially difficult to click on, so we've enlarged it to make your journeys quicker. Adding items to fill up compost bins should now be considerably easier. When you've used one item on the bin, your character will automatically attempt to put any further items of that type into the bin, saving you a bit of clicking. Metarialus and Blandebir (the brewing chaps in Port Phasmatys and Keldagrim) will now offer to fill all your pots with yeast at once rather than making you go through their conversation for each pot. Using one beer glass on a barrel of freshly brewed beer will also make your character attempt to fill all their beer glasses without any additional clicking, and there's a newly installed water source in the brewery at Port Phasmatys. Bounty Hunter Combat levels have been updated to reflect recent Combat level changes. The crater entrance requirements are now: 3-55, 50-100 and 95+ (all without Summoning). Dragon dagger p++ should now be easier to find on the Grand Exchange. We've also taken the opportunity to change some adamant items to use "addy" at the start. This is only for the super poisoned items, namely arrows, daggers and spears. QuickChat has now been given a predictive search feature to allow you to find the phrases you want more effectively. A distant rumble has recently been heard just north of Baxtorian Waterfall... |

i enjoyed the fact that there were two events (quest). and throught the rewards were pretty and the emote is unique
after completing swept away, you can get a purple cat by putting more animals in their cages. it is not easy. a guide for this would be most helpful |

Personally I can say that I hated this event itself but the quest wasn't bad,
The quest was an easy point, nothing wrong with that. the reward is unique in that its like 10 genie lamps and you can enchant it for magic xp. The event in itself annoyed me beyond all belief. It is stupid and the rewards are pointless like usual so I just got the emote and left. |

Is the broom like a holiday event? I mean that if it is destroyed or you die with it what happens to it?

The quest was just silly. Do the same thing three times for a broom that does nothing? It's just another event item...XP was nice, though. Too little for higher-skilled people (I guess they assume every Freebie is low-leveled >...<)
The event, though good in concept, was kind of dorky. You go around talking to everyone is three towns to scare them with one emote every time. It sounds cool, but it's just kind of annoying. The reward (like all rewards now-a-days) just didn't do anything for me...I think they got lazy with the costume design. It doesn't resemble anything...Not a pumpkin, not a goblin, nothing. It's just...an orange jumpsuit...I don't get it. Did anyone else notice that the witch talked almost exactly like Sarah Palin? This post has been edited by PumpkinKiller: Oct 28 2008, 07:08 PM |

This year's event wasn't as good as I'd hoped, but the quest made up for it... Quests with logic in them are excellent.

The event was meh.
I loved the quest, however. Sadly, I'm a bit of a logic whiz so I knew all of the solutions already. What ticked me off was that everyone was asking me for the solutions. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of questing: to have fun!? |

It was a nice bit of fun, both the event and the quest, they decorated the area nicely which is good considering it wont be around for long, even a pumpkin penguin was a nice touch.
The broomstick was a great prize saves glory charges when im KQing, would be nice if I could mount it in my house, nice amount of mage xp on top of my 99 mage. I did the event and quest on my noob account (f2p) took 5 minutes to do both quest and event at the same time, interesting that maggie tells about the rewards for enchanting the broomstick as if you could actually do it in f2p, but I guess its a members quest open to f2p for 2 weeks, wouldn't expect them to change it after the 2 weeks, perhaps an incentive to get members or just rubbing your nose in it. Shame I cant get a purple vulture, the purple cat is a nice fun bit of uselessness, I love things that are useless just for a bit of fun. |

What ticked me off was that everyone was asking me for the solutions. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of questing: to have fun!? Yes, but you have to remember that the stereotypical RS player is, let's face it, an idiot. Easy logic puzzles are too hard for them. |

Hi popchik, sorry to say the sorceress's apprentice is members only. For the member players looking for her, she is south-east of the Al Kharid Palace. She will enchant your broom for easy teleport to the Sorceress's Garden mini-game. As for the event, I also liked the 10 doses of goulash, wouldnt mind a few more lol. |
