Many Canon MFPs cannot work when they run out of ink |
A Canon customer named David Leacraft was annoyed and decided to sue Canon USA on this issue because he thought he was deceived in purchasing Canon products. According to the lawsuit, Leacraft purchased a Pixma MG2522 that could print, copy, and scan.

The lawsuit states: “Canon explicitly states or warns consumers that toner is a necessary component for scanning or faxing documents. Canon should have known that its claims and advertisements regarding AIO printers were untrue and misleading.”
The lawsuit then goes on to accuse Canon of only doing this to make more money from the sale of ink, which became necessary to keep devices running like scanners or fax machines.
