Follow GSMArena, the new product powered by Google’s custom Tensor chip. It is a 5nm chip with 8 processing cores, including 2 high-end Cortex-X1 cores, 2 mid-tier cores and 4 energy-saving cores. The custom image processor also takes computational photography on Pixel 6 phones to the next level.
Pixel 6 series starts at 599 USD
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have a Live Translate feature that allows it to translate messages, captions, or text in the camera viewfinder into up to 55 languages. Using Tensor, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro can act as an interpreter in French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish without an internet connection.
Tensor is also integrated with the Titan M2 security chip that helps protect users’ photos, documents, and sensitive data from external attacks. Google is also promising up to five years of security updates for the Pixel 6 lineup.
The Pixel 6 Pro is the larger smartphone model and has some notable advantages over the Pixel 6. This includes a 6.7-inch 1,440p display and a fast refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. It is an LTPO AMOLED panel that will bring a variable refresh rate feature to save battery. Meanwhile, the Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch 1,080p AMOLED display and only offers a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz. The screens on the Pixel 6 series are all covered with Gorilla Glass Victus, but the Pixel 6 Pro’s display is more curved and is what Google calls 3D glass. Both screens have fingerprint scanners.
Tensor is a powerful weapon that Google has developed for the new Pixel 6 series
The Pixel 6 Pro also has the advantage in camera hardware with a dedicated 4x zoom camera placed in front of a large 48 MP sensor and which Google claims can be increased to 20X with the help of “Super Res Zoom”. On the front, the Pixel 6 Pro has an 11.1 MP selfie camera that supports ultra-wide fixed focus, higher than the 8 MP camera on the Pixel 6.
In addition, the camera on the Pixel 6 series also comes with a Samsung GN1 50 MP 1/1.3-inch sensor that supports combining pixels to create a 12.5 MP image, combining a 12 MP ultra-wide camera.
The Pixel 6 Pro also comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, which is larger than the 4,600 mAh on the Pixel 6. Both support up to 30W charging and can charge wirelessly via the new Pixel Stand.
The starting price of Pixel 6 Pro is 899 USD, while for Pixel 6 it is from 599 USD.
