Genshin Impact is miHoYo’s most popular game recently, bringing in more than 2 billion USD in revenue for the company after only 1 year of release. But recently, the Chinese game company has transferred the publishing rights to a new unit called Cognosphere. In addition to Genshin Impact, miHoYo’s newly released Tears of Themis Mobile game has also been transferred to this new company.
Cognosphere is registered to operate in Singapore. Therefore, many people believe that the move to transfer the publishing rights to Singapore is a step to avoid regulations and interference from the Chinese government with content published by this country’s businesses. miHoYo’s side has not yet responded to the reason for the change.
miHoYo is committed to maintaining support for Cognosphere, but it is not clear at this time if the change will have any impact on the game or gamers. Payments for the game also went to Cognosphere’s account instead of miHoYo.
On the Reddit forum, the community shared evidence that Cognosphere is in fact a subsidiary that miHoYo recently trademarked in Singapore.
