Mao Xingyu was confirmed by Tencent to have died right at the company’s office. Mao is a member of Timi F1 Studio, holding an important position as the Head of the company’s game graphics programming team.
The hit Chinese game maker immediately set up a support team for Mao’s family members to take care of the afterlife as well as the welfare of the ill-fated employees. The company also sent a brief notice to internal about the unfortunate incident.
“Mao was hospitalized for health reasons from August to September of this year. He returned to work after being discharged from the hospital by doctors because his condition was stable. However, the company did not expect the unfortunate incident to happen,” the announcement read.
Mao has a good work record, was honored as one of the top 10 technology bloggers in China in 2013. He won the Microsoft Best Skilled Professional award in April 2014, published many articles, documents related to game development and of interest to many people.
Tencent is still investigating the cause of Mao’s death.
