According to VCG, the PC version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake appears to be moving to Valve’s Steam platform, which is based on files found in the recently released Epic Game Store version.

Last week, Final Fantasy 7 appeared on the Epic Game Store and received a not-so-friendly reception from fans. The game was previously known as the first chapter and exclusive on PlayStaion, part of Square Enix’s collection of remakes from the 1997 RPG.
According to Twitter user AtelierTool, the game has a Steam AppID hidden in its system files, which is a necessity for games on Valve’s platform. This Steam AppID appears to have been created in October 2020, about 6 months after the game launched on PlayStation 4.

User AtelierTool has also noticed that when downloading the PC version from the Epic Game Store, the inside of the game contains a ‘Steamworks’ folder, suggesting that the Steam version is likely to launch shortly after the exclusivity deal. with the expired Epic Game Store.
Recently the launch of Final Fantasy 7 on PC was met with many controversies, the biggest of which was Square Enix’s decision to sell the game for $70, which is the same price as the game on the latest generation consoles. This is a much higher price than the publisher’s other PC games.
Square Enix seems to be the first major publisher to bring a $70 price tag for a game to the PC platform.
