Threadripper Pro 5000 series will be designed by AMD towards the workstation market |
The list published by Videocardz includes Threadripper (TR) Pro 5995WX, TR Pro 5975WX, TR Pro 5965WX, TR Pro 5955WX and TR Pro 5945WX. All of these names have already leaked through the benchmarks, so it’s likely they’ll stay the same at release.
Threadripper processors have always been known for their massive core counts, and the new CPU members from AMD continue to follow that tradition. Threadripper Pro 5995WX is the most premium member with 64 cores and 128 threads. The following models have 32 cores/64 threads, 24 cores/48 threads, 16 cores/32 threads and 12 cores/24 threads respectively.
When it comes to the clock speeds on these new processors, the Threadripper Pro 5975WX can deliver a base clock of 3.6 GHz, while the frequencies of the other series of processors in the series are yet to be announced. . Videocardz expects these new CPUs to be extremely power hungry, with each CPU having a TDP of at least 280W.

Note that the Threadripper CPU family is specifically designed with workstations in mind for extremely heavy workloads. It’s still unclear if AMD will release non-Pro series processors in the future.
It is known that the AMD Threadripper 5000 series CPUs have been long awaited by the community. They were originally supposed to launch over a year ago but have since been postponed several times. With the Ryzen 6000 series of CPUs launching next year, it will be interesting to see AMD continue to expand this product line.
Information about the release date of new CPUs from AMD is said to be March 8, 2022, but it is likely that AMD will make an official announcement about them during CES 2022 taking place in January. More details on the specifications of the AMD Threadripper Pro 5000 models will be revealed at that time.
