Fugaku will be the top target the EU wants to beat |
To help EuroHPC JU create a supercomputer at the top of the world, the EU will provide financial support of up to 250 million EUR. Through this money, build a high-end supercomputer equipped with capabilities that allow it to perform up to billions of operations per second.

Notably, within the EU there is a country that already has a supercomputer in the Top 500 list, that is HPC5 Dell PowerEdge of an energy company ENI from Italy and supported by Nvidia. This product is in the 8th place in the Top 500 supercomputer with a computing capacity of 35.5 Pflop/s.
Regarding the new project, the EU wants the supercomputer to provide double the performance of the Fugaku, occupy an area of 700 square meters and support 100 Gbit/s broadband connection.
