Follow AppleInsider, in Mark Gurman’s Power On newsletter, Apple is said to have been working on an internal concept for a portable version of the HomePod. This is a possibility that hasn’t happened on HomePod models, with both the HomePod and the HomePod mini being designed for indoor use, so come with a power cable and plug into an electrical outlet. Although designed to connect to an outlet, the HomePod mini uses USB-C to connect to the charger.

So far, Apple has not had a portable speaker model under the HomePod brand

This information comes just days after Apple discontinued the Beats Pill+, a portable Bluetooth speaker from the Beats brand. Pill+ was the last device sold by Beats. Apple seems to be focusing on other personal audio products.

Apple has also made portable speakers in the past, with the iPod Hi-Fi box designed to amplify the iPod’s sound. However, it was discontinued by Apple after only 18 months of introduction.
