The 60 kWh battery on board is relatively small, but Subaru is confident the E-RA can be powerful on the track, with the company completing a lap of the Nürburgring in just 6 minutes and 40 seconds at some point in time. 2023. Although not as fast as VW’s ID.R (6 minutes 5 seconds), but surpasses previous electric cars like Tesla’s Model S Plaid (7 minutes 35 seconds). The company plans to test the E-RA at Japanese racetracks by the end of 2022.

Subaru also revealed the Solterra STI Concept – a sport-focused version of the upcoming crossover. Subaru hasn’t discussed the changes below the bodywork, but Solterra does offer a roof spoiler upgrade and other customizations to signal the car’s high-performance-focused ambitions.
Overall, much of Subaru’s focus is on the E-RA, which represents the Japanese automaker’s electric sports car plans for the future. This shows that the company is serious about electric vehicles and can produce high-performance cars in addition to conventional consumer cars. The main challenge for the company is that it has been slower to enter the electric vehicle market than the likes of VW, Mercedes and GM.
