Apple’s Apple Car project continues to lose leadership |
This leader has been identified as Joe Bass, who has led the Apple Car division since January 2015. In his Power On newsletter on Bloomberg, Mark Gurman said Bass changed his LinkedIn profile in January, indicating he had left Apple to move to a new position elsewhere.
According to the latest reports, after leaving Apple, Bass’ next destination is Meta as Technical Program Manager for Mixed Reality.

Prior to Bass, a senior director of the Special Projects team at Apple switched to electric aircraft startup Archer Aviation last December. Soon after, two other personnel also transferred to Archer Aviation, while another employee left to Joby Aviation.
Sources speculate that Apple may take years before shipping the Apple Car to consumers, specifically 2025. Also according to the report, Apple could announce a strategic electric vehicle partnership in 2022. to lay the groundwork for the product launch.
Despite the recent loss of senior staff, the launch of Apple Car is said to stay on schedule as forecast.
