According to PCGamers, in October 2021, Valve said it was reviewing all categories on Steam, in order to determine the compatibility of each game with the upcoming Steam Deck handheld game console. Each game will show some kind of status information like ‘Deck Verified’ which means the game is verified to be playable on the Deck, ‘Playable’ is the game is playable with some restrictions and ‘Unsupported’ or ‘Unknown’ is the untested game.

Valve begins rolling out Steam Deck compatibility for Steam games |
And Valve’s efforts are yielding positive results. Members of the SteamDeck subsite have noticed that some games already have a ‘Deck Verified’ status, however this status is not currently displayed on the Steam store listing, and it can only be seen on SteamDB. The list is pretty small at the moment, featuring just 67 of the more than 60,000 games on Steam, and not all of the games on the list are verified. The only way to check the status of a game is to see the individual list of that game.

There are several examples of restrictive states, such as Witcher 3 Fully playable on the Steam Deck, but only classified as ‘Playable’, as some of the text in the game is quite small and can be difficult to read on the Steam Deck screen. Also, the only game on the unsupported list is Persona 4 Golden, as it belongs to the VR category and the Steam Deck does not support VR (virtual reality).
There’s currently no word on when the verification results will start appearing on the standard Steam store pages, but Valve confirmed that it has begun rolling out ‘Deck Verified’ results for some games. .
